The videos below are the existing store tutorials for earlier generations and Smile. Their Wi-Fi network steps do not apply to Smols.

Set up your EdgeVR trackers with the complete English instructions below. Keep your headset, trackers and USB data cable nearby.

Full-Body Tracking Setup

1. Install SlimeVR

Download SlimeVR from the official SlimeVR website and follow its installer. Open the app, choose English and select Let’s set up.

2. Connect each tracker to Wi-Fi

Enter your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network name and password, matching uppercase and lowercase letters exactly. These trackers do not connect to 5 GHz Wi-Fi. Your computer and trackers must be on the same local network; the computer can use Ethernet.

Switch on one tracker and connect it to the computer with the supplied USB data cable. Wait for SlimeVR to confirm the connection, then repeat for every tracker. Select I have connected all my trackers. If discovery fails, contact support to check the trusted home-network and firewall settings.

3. Assign body positions

Choose the set matching your kit:

  • SIDE — 6 trackers: chest, hip, two lower legs and two feet.
  • INVERGE — 8 trackers: the SIDE positions plus two thighs.
  • LIMBO — 10 trackers: the INVERGE positions plus two arms.

Select a body position, move its tracker to identify it in the list, then assign it. Repeat for all positions. Any tracker can be assigned to any position. Continue to the next screen; you can return to calibration after putting the trackers on.

4. Let the sensors settle and put the trackers on

Restart the trackers and leave them still on a flat surface for about two minutes. Then attach the straps comfortably, with the USB connectors pointing down. For a first session, you can start with the six SIDE positions before adding the remaining trackers.

5. Prepare SteamVR and VRChat

Keep SlimeVR running and open SteamVR and VRChat. Other software that emulates full-body tracking can conflict with SlimeVR; ask support if you have another tracking driver installed.

In VRChat, open Settings → Tracking & IK. Disable FBT locomotion animation. When using arm trackers, disable shoulder tracking. Enable calibration visuals so you can see the tracker markers.

6. Calibrate tracker mounting

In SlimeVR, open the mounting/position calibration screen and choose automatic mounting. Confirm that all trackers are attached. Follow the on-screen preparation and full-reset prompts while standing straight. For the ski pose, bend your knees slightly, lean forward and keep your arms beside your body. Complete the guided calibration and check the skeleton preview.

7. Calibrate your avatar

Open VRChat’s quick menu and choose Calibrate FBT. Match the avatar’s calibration pose, then confirm with the controller triggers. If the markers or proportions look wrong, check your real height, SteamVR floor height and SlimeVR body proportions. Adjust torso, legs and arms gradually; use your real body proportions rather than copying a differently proportioned avatar.

8. Set up a quick reset

Small changes in alignment over time are called drift. Use SlimeVR’s configured reset gesture or the controller shortcut below to realign. The chest double-tap gesture works only when enabled in your SlimeVR configuration.

Smile Mouth Tracker Setup

1. Prepare the software

You need the firmware flashing tool supplied for your Smile hardware, Baballonia and VRCFaceTracking. Use the versions and firmware recommended by EDGE VR for your unit. Your VRChat avatar must support face tracking. If you do not have the download links, ask in your dedicated Discord support channel before flashing.

2. Choose wired or wireless firmware

Open the flashing tool and select wired or wireless operation. For wireless operation, enter your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi details and note the camera URL shown by the tool. Connect Smile to the computer with the supplied data cable, then follow the installation prompts. When prompted, unplug and reconnect the device to restart it and send the Wi-Fi credentials.

3. Set up VRCFaceTracking

Install and open VRCFaceTracking. In its module manager, install the Babble module recommended for your Smile setup and restart VRCFaceTracking so the module loads.

4. Connect the camera in Baballonia

For wireless operation, enter the camera URL from the firmware setup. For wired operation, select the port/device corresponding to Smile. Start the camera and check that the live preview appears.

5. Frame your mouth

Use the camera’s vertical flip, horizontal flip and rotation controls if the image is upside down or tilted. Adjust the mount so your mouth is centered and straight in the preview. Adjust brightness without overexposing the image.

6. Check your avatar

Run Baballonia and VRCFaceTracking with your compatible avatar in VRChat. Verify mouth movement and adjust the physical camera position if tracking is uneven. Contact EDGE VR support if the camera preview works but the avatar does not respond.

Controller Quick Reset

  1. Open SteamVR settings and go to controller bindings.
  2. Choose another application or show more applications, then find SlimeVR Feeder App.
  3. Select your controller and edit the current binding.
  4. Choose a button and its input mode. A double-press can help prevent accidental activation.
  5. Assign the SlimeVR reset action you want to use.
  6. Save the binding for personal use, close the menu and test it while facing forward.

Menu names can vary with your SteamVR and SlimeVR versions. Your support channel can help match the steps to your current setup.

Before Each Session

  1. Turn the trackers on and leave them still on a flat surface for about two minutes.
  2. Put the trackers on securely and comfortably.
  3. Complete the SlimeVR reset and mounting calibration prompts.
  4. Calibrate full-body tracking in VRChat.
  5. Use your quick-reset shortcut whenever the alignment drifts.
